An investigation has been launched after a teacher at a school in Male' City has been accused of sexually abusing their students.

Maldives Police Service said that a case of sexual abuse by a school teacher in Male' was reported on 19 October and an investigation is underway.

Regarding the situation, an official from the Ministry of Education told ONE Online that a case of sexual abuse and inappropriate communication to students by a teacher from a school is Male' City was reported two weeks ago. And the accused teacher has been suspended.

Police are also investigating an employee of another school who sexually abused a four-year-old preschool student. The employee under suspicion is suspended as well.
