Foreigner arrested in Maafushi with large quantity of alcohol

A foreigner has been arrested in Kaafu Atoll Maafushi with a large quantity of alcohol.

Maldives Police Service said that officers on patrol saw a suspicious man on the island’s harbor around 7:20 p.m. last night and was stopped and searched to find seven cans of alcoholic beverage.

The 24-year-old foreign suspect was taken into custody after the search.

After the arrest, officers received a tip searched his residence to find 203 bottles and 42 cans of alcohol. Police is investigating the case further.
