Two people widely involved in the drug trade in Male’ City has been arrested.

Maldives Police Service said that following reports of a drug deal, a residential house in Maafannu district was searched last night and two people were arrested two local men of the ages 44 and 47.

In this special operation, the arrests were made with a court order and their residence was searched to find 33 empty film canisters of suspected drugs, 22 bottles along with eight cases of alcohol according to the police.

Police said that they also found a large sum of money.

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Department of the police.
