A man has been mugged of his phone and attacked with a sharp object in the Jambu Magu area on Male’ City.

The victim of the attack is a 24-year-old Nepalese national according to the Maldives Police Service.

Police said that the victim was walking on Jambu Magu when two men on a motorcycle came up to him and mugged him taking his phone before attacking him with a sharp object. The case was reported to the police last night around 11:41 p.m.

According to the police, the victim tried to prevent the muggers from leaving and held their motorcycle which prompted the attack on him injuring his left elbow and fingers. The assailants escaped the following the attack.

While no arrests have been made so far, police said that the case is under investigation.
