Injured man in diving incident brought to Male’ for further treatment

The man who got his leg severed after being hit by the engine blade of a dinghy while diving, has been brought to Male’ City for further treatment.

The injured man is 27-year-old Mohamed Haleem, from Raa Atoll Inguraidhoo.

MNDF said that the man was brought to Male’ City on board the Coast Guard vessel “Velana” after initial treatment at Baa Atoll Kamadhoo Health Center.

He was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) before being transferred to ADK Hospital.

Regarding the incident, the Vice President of the Inguraidhoo Island Council, Abdulla Hassan told One Online that the incident took place while four young people went diving to the shallows north of the island.

He said that the dinghy involved in the incident was traveling from the island to a nearby resort in development, Kottafaru.
