Inguraidhoo placed under monitoring after high positive rate at flu clinic

Raa Atoll Inguraidhoo has been placed under monitoring after a spike in the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 at the island's flu clinic.

President of the Inguraidhoo Island Council, Mohamed Jaleel told ONE Online today that there are 30 cases of COVID-19 at the island and 24 of those people consulted at the clinic with symptoms before they were confirmed positive.

The number of positive cases on the island includes school students and teachs according to the Council President, Jaleel.

He said that the spoke in cases occurred after those who left the island to Male' City for the holidays returned to the island. But they are all in good health in general.

Council President Jaleel said that a request was made at the Education Ministry to close the school after a number of students tested positive. However, the request was denied because the island was not under monitoring.

Jaleel said that random sample testing is going to start at the island soon as well.

The latest wave of COVID-19 has shown a spike in positive cases on the atolls with over 2,000 cases reported so far. And there are 34 islands currently under monitoring.
