A man has been arrested in Hulhumale’ with a large quantity of drugs.

Maldives Police Service said that a 44-year-old man was arrested with a large quantity of drugs yesterday during a special operation following a discovery by the Drug Intelligence.

During the search of the suspects apartment, police found two large rubber packets containing suspected drugs along with 24 cellophane pieces and a canister containing drugs which had a total weight of the drugs is 996 grams.

Police said that the who was arrested was remanded by 15 days when he was brought forth before a judge following the arrest.

The Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service is investigating the case further.
