As part of the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe's official visit to the Maldives.on the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, an agreement has been signed between the two countries to grab 30 days of on-arrival visa to Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka.
Currently, Maldivians receive 30 days on-arrival at Sri Lanka.
The extension of on-arrival visa is aimed to greatly benefit Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka for medical and educational purposes; especially for those with children under 18 years of age studying in Sri Lanka.
The President's Office said the agreement titled, "Agreement on Facilitation of Visa Arrangement" is going to amend the visa agreement signed in 2008.
While the agreement will grant free 90 days of on-arrival visa to Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka, it will also grant multiple-entry business visa for those who need it.
A very warm welcome to the Maldives to our dear friend @RW_UNP Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. The PM and I had highly positive discussions on a range of important issues. During the PM's visit 4 MoUs on visa, social protection, higher education and vocational training were signed. pic.twitter.com/AGnPjt1r9c
