President's Office has denied allegations which claim that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had received a hefty bribe of MVR 37 million from former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
Local media reports claim that President Solih received the alleged bribe from Adeeb - who headed the MMPRC Corruption - while he was the leader of MDP Parliamentary Group, before his bid for Presidency.
The reports further allege that President Solih had received the bribe of MVR 37 million in the residence of Adeeb, where former Attorney General Mohamed Anil and former Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shainee was present.
Chief Communications Strategist at the President's Office, Ibrahim Hoodh revealed to 'One Online' that there were no base to the allegations and refuted the claims that the President had received a bribe from Adeeb.
As such, he also noted that the President had never met Anil and Shainee together in one place, and highlighted that he had met Shainee only once before. That too was during the 'All Party Talks' initiated by the former government.
President Solih had come under fire regarding the MMPRC Corruption Scandal before as well. The President's Office had also denied those allegations, although the President himself had never addressed the allegations in media.
