Maldives Customs Service has seized 1.52 kg of heroin being smuggled in the Maldives via air.

Customs said that they found the suspected drugs after searching the luggage of a 25-year-old man who came from Sri Lanka today due to his suspicious behavior. And initial testing has shown that he was smuggling heroin.

The Customs Service said that the drugs seized today weigh a total of 1.52 kg which has an estimated street value of MVR 1 million.

The custody of the suspect and the drugs seized has now been transferred to the Maldives Police Service and they have taken over the investigation.
