President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the narratives being spread by opposition parties in connection with the Rasmalé project carried out by UAE's Eagle Hills are contrary to the truth and aimed at creating fear, and that Israeli citizens will not be accommodated there.
Speaking on the President's Office podcast "The Pulse," the President made these remarks in response to ongoing claims that the apartments developed by UAE's Eagle Hills in Rasmalé will be purchased by Jews and that the location will become a settlement for them.
According to the President, that is something that will not happen practically to any extent. As a reason, he noted that those currently expressing interest in purchasing property from there are people from Gulf countries and Middle Eastern Arab nations.
"I would say Maldivians and Arabs are the ones who will be staying here. Arab Muslims," the President said.
Referring to the government's decision to ban the Israeli passport, the President stated that Israeli citizens will be legally barred from acquiring any property from Rasmalé. He also assured that this administration will not provide any opportunity for such an occurrence.
The President accused opposition parties of spreading such narratives for political purposes to instill fear in the hearts of citizens. He also remarked that for political figures to sink to such irrational depths is something they need to reflect on regarding themselves.
The President stated that under the government-initiated nationalism project, Maldivian identity and customs will be protected. He assured that even when implementing major projects like Rasmalé, those matters will be safeguarded, and this will be evident when the legislation is submitted to Parliament.
