Starting November 1, access to the T-Jetty area will be restricted exclusively to heavy load-line certified vessels, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has announced.
In an announcement made today, MPL stated that this change was introduced following decisions by relevant authorities to prevent vessels from overloading beyond their designated limits.
Starting from the first of next month, all vessels entering the area will be individually inspected to ensure compliance with established standards.
MPL noted that entry will only be granted to vessels that meet specific criteria. To be recognized as a load-line certified vessel, the boat must clearly display official load marks on its sides and possess a valid load-line certificate.
Additionally, MPL stated that vessels must have all other necessary transport permits and documentation in full order.
To avoid service disruptions when the new rules take effect, MPL has advised all vessel owners and captains to prepare in advance by renewing expiring load-line certificates and ensuring all official markings are properly displayed.
