Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has stated that two multi-story parking buildings being constructed in Malé will be completed by November next year.
To address the parking crisis in the Greater Malé area, the government is preparing to develop seven parking facilities across Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villingili. These structures are expected to provide over 2,600 parking spaces for four-wheeled vehicles and 1,000 spaces for two-wheeled vehicles.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office today, Minister Saeed noted that the Heenamaage parking building project has already been awarded, with final coordination underway with the contractors. Furthermore, final preparations are being made to award the contract for the second site located on Sosun Magu, adjacent to the Maldives National University (MNU).
"The target is to complete both of these buildings before November of next year," Saeed said. He emphasized that this initiative represents an unprecedented step that will provide a major and lasting solution to Malé's persistent parking problems.
