Health Minister Geela Ali has stated that arrangements have been made in health centers and hospitals for children with disabilities to consult doctors promptly, and that more than 80 therapists are currently in service to provide care to such individuals.

Answering a question posed by an individual at the 9th "Ahaa" forum held tonight, the minister stated that presenting the disability card for children with disabilities already facilitates fast-track access to doctors.

The minister noted that due to physical or other disabilities, it is difficult for such children to spend prolonged periods in one place, which is why arrangements have been established to provide prompt services to them.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted that a large number of therapists have been deployed to provide services to individuals with disabilities in both the atolls and Malé. In this regard, she noted that keeping 50 therapists stationed in service this year alone was a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Including those previously in service, more than 80 therapists across various specialties are currently providing care, the minister stated. These include speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, and physiotherapists.

Minister Geela concluded that adequate and effective arrangements are already in place for delivering healthcare services to individuals and children with disabilities.
