Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the best course of action is for Eagle Hills to halt the massive project it intends to carry out in Rasmalé.

In a post shared on X today, President Yameen stated that Eagle Hills is a corrupt entity taking unfair advantage of a government that has lost voter support and is morally bankrupt.

"Establishing a Zionist population in a 100 percent Muslim society that cares deeply about the Palestinian issue highlights your [Eagle Hills'] hypocrisy and wickedness," President Yameen said.

Yameen stated that Maldivians harbor nothing but opposition and resentment toward Eagle Hills' project.

A first-stage agreement has been signed with Eagle Hills to develop and operate a modern marina and a waterfront city in Rasmalé. Under the terms of the project, 500 hectares of Rasmalé will be allocated to the company for development.
