The Civil Court has instructed Suntria Private Limited to respond to a lawsuit filed against it by Aasandha Company.

This case was filed because rent and revenue share payments were not made in accordance with the agreement made between Aasandha and Suntria regarding the operation of the Hulhumalé Hospital pharmacy. Furthermore, the lawsuit requests the court to rule that Suntria breached the agreement by failing to vacate the premises and hand it over to Aasandha after the agreement's term expired, as well as to seek rent, compensation for revenue share losses until the premises are vacated, and legal costs.

In response to the lawsuit, Suntria raised an objection questioning Aasandha's legal standing.

In that regard, the company stated that Aasandha took over the management of Hulhumalé Hospital on April 3, 2016. On January 1, 2020, hospital management was separated from Aasandha, and the "Governing Board of Malé Hospitals" was established as a separate governing board to run the hospital, moving Hulhumalé Hospital, its building, and other assets under that new governing board.

Therefore, it was stated that the interests in agreements and other transactions made during the period when Aasandha managed Hulhumalé Hospital now lie with the Governing Board of Malé Hospitals.

According to them, the reason is that the hospital is now managed by that board, and that board is established by a decree of the President and administered administratively under the Ministry of Health.

Consequently, they submitted that Aasandha does not have the legal standing to file this lawsuit.

After Aasandha responded to the question raised regarding its standing, and following statements made by both parties regarding the case, the Civil Court ruled that this is a case that Suntria is required to respond to.

In order to proceed with the case on its merits, the court also instructed Suntria to submit documentation to the court under the Civil Procedure Act confirming receipt of the lawsuit form by 2:00 PM on the 26th of this month. It was further stated that once the document confirming receipt of the lawsuit form is submitted, the court will share the procedure, date, and time for submitting the defense.
