President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government will facilitate the necessary opportunities to shape girls and young women into the leaders of the future.

In a post shared on X in connection with International Day of the Girl Child observed today, the President stated that the Maldives joins the international community's efforts to promote and protect the rights of girls worldwide, renewing its commitment to the cause.

The President stated that this government will work to advance policies and expand opportunities that empower girls and young women to prove their full potential, gain the capability to be future leaders, and serve national development meaningfully within a safe and supportive environment.

He noted that to achieve these objectives, the entire community must work together, starting from families and communities to all relevant stakeholders.

The President stated that the investments made today for our daughters represent an investment in a future that ensures equality, inclusion, and prosperity for all.

International Day of the Girl Child is globally observed on October 11th each year. This year's theme for the day is "Ending Child Marriage and Investing in Girls' Rights".
