PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah has stated that the USD 20 billion "Maldives Waterfront and Marina" project in Rasmalé, awarded to Abu Dhabi-based international developer Eagle Hills, does not yet have an official agreement in place.

Falah made these remarks while speaking during the debate on the urgent motion submitted to the People's Majlis, which called for the full disclosure of all details regarding the government's agreement concerning the Rasmalé project. The urgent motion was submitted to today's Majlis session by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member and South Galolhu MP, Meekail Ahmed Naseem.

Speaking during the debate, Falah stated that MDP members are misleading the public with their discussions surrounding the project agreement. "This Eagle Hills project is currently under a commercial terms agreement; it is not yet an official agreement. Discussions claiming that an agreement has been finalized to hand it over for 99 years are meant to deceive the public," he said.

Falah noted that the "Maldives Waterfront and Marina" project is a USD 20 billion venture, adding that neighboring countries like Sri Lanka are eager to secure such major investments.
