It has been decided to grant an opportunity to all members who wish to speak in the debate on the urgent motion concerning the Rasmalé project agreement with UAE's Eagle Hills.
In today's session, the urgent motion was submitted to the People's Majlis by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member and South Galolhu MP, Meekail Ahmed Naseem. According to Majlis regulations, the debate on an urgent motion is normally restricted to one hour unless the duration is extended.
However, the proposal to extend the debate time so that all interested members can speak was submitted by opposition MDP Parliamentary Group Leader and South Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Nazil, and seconded by MDP Kanditheemu MP Ameen Faisal.
The extension of the debate period was passed with 26 members voting in favor out of the 29 members present in the session.
