PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah has stated that among former presidents, opposition MDP President and former President Mohamed Nasheed is the strongest supporter of the $20 billion mega project being implemented in Rasmalé in partnership with UAE's Eagle Hills company.
MP Falah made these remarks while speaking during the debate on the urgent motion submitted to the People's Majlis, which calls for the full disclosure of all details regarding the agreement made by the Maldivian government with Eagle Hills concerning the Rasmalé project.
The urgent motion was submitted to the Majlis by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member and South Galolhu MP, Meekail Ahmed Naseem.
Speaking during the debate, Falah noted that following the amendments brought to the party's basic regulations at the recent MDP congress, the MDP no longer has a party president or vice president, leaving the Chairperson, Mohamed Nasheed, as the central authority of the party.
Consequently, Falah claimed that MDP members submitted the urgent motion to the Majlis as a means to criticize and target Nasheed, driven by discontent over how matters unfolded for them at the party congress and the fact that Nasheed supports the Rasmalé project.
