Under the Malé street development project, the work on segments 1 and 2 of Ameenee Magu has been completed, and the area was opened to public transport tonight.
According to a press release issued by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) tonight, under segment 1, the previously laid aggregate base course (ABC) and asphalt across a 2,794.062 square meter area were removed. Following that, subgrade, subbase, ABC, and asphalt paving, along with road markings, were completed in the area.
Additionally, under segment 2, after removing the asphalt from a 133.64 square meter area, re-laying ABC and paving asphalt have also been completed. The company believes that with the opening of these two segments, previous difficulties in using the road will be resolved, bringing significant convenience to the public.
Next under this project will be the work for segments 3 and 4. According to MTCC, in segment 3, extending from Izzuddin Hingun to Koarukendi Hingun, asphalt over a 1,924.77 square meter area will be removed, and ABC and asphalt will be re-laid. Furthermore, under segment 4, extending from Koarukendi Hingun to Giyasuddin International School, asphalt will similarly be removed across a 1,148.91 square meter area, followed by re-paving asphalt and painting road markings.
The project to modernize and repair Ameenee Magu following the deterioration of its asphalt layer was contracted to MTCC in June of this year.
