The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 5 months and 28 days in prison for climbing onto the roof of the STO Service Centre and damaging its air conditioning units.

The verdict was delivered against Mohamed Shiuneez from Elohouse, S. Feydhoo. The state prosecuted him on two separate counts: knowingly entering an unauthorized location and causing damage to property.

The unauthorized entry charge stemmed from him unlawfully climbing onto the roof of the STO Service Centre—located at the junction of Haveeree Hingun and Aaburuzu Hingun in Malé—without permission, for which he received a 2-month and 28-day prison sentence under the Criminal Procedure Act.

Additionally, the property damage charge was proven after he dismantled and damaged the outdoor units of three air conditioners installed on the premises, resulting in an additional 3-month prison sentence.
