The Parliament will begin its third session of the year on Monday, with the initial debate on the Government-sponsored Proceeds of Crime Bill among the items on the agenda.

The first sitting will also consider referring the President’s nominations for Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation and the Maldives’ accession to the OIC Convention on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation to the relevant standing committees.

The Proceeds of Crime Bill was submitted by Fuvahmulah Central MP Ali Fazad.

The Majlis concluded its second session on 26 August after completing work on 24 bills across the first two sessions. Both sessions were extended to allow MPs to complete pending legislative work.
