Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua has highlighted the strong foundation of relations between China and the Maldives, noting the significance of the leaders’ 2024 meeting in advancing their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

In a message shared on X for China’s 77th National Day, Ambassador Kong said the high-level engagement had strengthened bilateral ties and renewed cooperation in key areas.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met Chinese President Xi Jinping during his 2024 State Visit to China, held at President Xi’s invitation.

Ambassador Kong expressed appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the two countries and extended his wishes to their peoples. This year also marks the 54th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Maldives.
