Malé City Council has fined 12 vessels for using Villingili lagoon in violation of regulations.

The council said the fines were imposed as part of ongoing efforts to organise and manage the lagoon. The vessels had been stationed in the area without following the established rules, creating difficulties for those who use the lagoon with proper authorisation.

The council said action was being taken to address issues affecting the lagoon’s orderly use and to resolve difficulties faced by authorised users.

Villingili lagoon is managed by Malé City Council, which has urged all parties to comply with the regulations governing its use.
