The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to prison for pushing a woman down a staircase, taking her mobile phone and cutting a necklace she was wearing.

Moosa Naafiu of M. Naalafushi Banafsaa was convicted over the incident at the Veeru Gym building on Fareedhee Magu.

The State charged him with unlawfully using force against another person’s property, causing injury and damaging property. He admitted to all three charges in court.

The court sentenced him to four months and 24 days in prison for unlawfully using force, 27 days for causing injury and six days for damaging property.
