President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology must be utilized to further advance the Maldivian tourism industry.

In a post on X today in connection with World Tourism Day, the President praised and expressed gratitude for the important role played by Maldivian citizens and tourism industry stakeholders in establishing the Maldives as a world-class, leading tourism destination.

"Tourism remains the driving force of our nation's development and global connections. As digital technologies and AI transform the industry, we must move forward by adapting, innovating, and leading," the President said.

The President stated that the Maldives is ready to invest in new innovations and skills, and to utilize digital solutions to strengthen the tourism industry and further enhance the experience for tourists.

The President noted that even while utilizing modern technology, the natural beauty, uniqueness, and characteristic hospitality that set the Maldives apart can be preserved.
