Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has denied claims that all projects under the Islamic Ministry have been awarded to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC), a company partly owned by Maafannu North MP Colonel Mohamed Nazim.

Speaking at a PNF meeting, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom claimed that all the ministry’s projects had been given to RCC. Minister Shaheem rejected the claim, saying it was not true.

Shaheem said the Islamic Ministry is currently implementing more than 100 projects, which have been awarded to different companies in the Maldives. He said only two projects have been awarded to RCC, and that both were awarded in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

The minister also said that if a formal request is submitted under the Right to Information Act, the ministry will provide all relevant information about the projects.
