Two individuals suspected of engaging in large-scale drug trafficking have been arrested in a counter-narcotics operation conducted in GDh. Thinadhoo City.

Police stated that this operation was carried out as part of special efforts underway since July of this year to curb the importation and trafficking of narcotics.

Police stated that the operation was conducted last Monday by the Upper South Police Counter Narcotics Operations team in collaboration with GDh. Thinadhoo Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

During the operation, following a court order to search a house in Thinadhoo City on suspicion of importing and trafficking large quantities of drugs, police said 16.25 grams of suspected narcotics were recovered.

Police stated that those arrested in connection with the case are 39-year-old Fazuleen Mohamed and 30-year-old Azulif Mohamed, both from Kudhuruvaage, GDh. Thinadhoo.

Police noted that both men are suspected of being key figures operating within this network.

Police stated that when presented before the court to determine their remand, Fazuleen Mohamed was ordered to be detained for 70 days, while Azulif Mohamed was ordered to be detained for 30 days.

Police added that Thinadhoo Police and Serious Crime Investigation are jointly investigating the matter.
