The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has opened opportunities for interested parties to sell produce grown by farmers from various islands at the Farmers' Market ahead of next year's Ramadan.
This opportunity has been extended to all islands across the Maldives.
The Ministry stated today that all island councils have been informed regarding the initiative, requesting interested parties to submit their names to the Ministry through their respective island councils.
The Ministry noted that after reviewing the number of islands that register, a specific location for establishing the market for next year's Ramadan will be determined.
This year, the temporary market was established in the area where a café was previously operated in Malé's North Harbor region.
According to the guidelines published by the Ministry for running the temporary market, only raw fruits and vegetables produced in Maldivian islands are permitted to be sold there. Additionally, expatriates are strictly prohibited from operating or participating in activities within the market.
