Forbes Georgia has removed a promotional article about former Maldives Vice President Ahmed Adeeb following public backlash.

Published under the title "The Rise, Fall, and Reinvention of Ahmed Adeeb," the article was taken down from the website after many individuals expressed concern on social media, highlighting Adeeb's role in the MMPRC corruption scandal—the largest corruption case in Maldivian history.

In a notice released after removing the article, Forbes Georgia stated that it is further reviewing the processes and information-gathering methods used in publishing the piece. The notice also noted that the publication is examining whether the article conflicted with its editorial standards and commercial content publishing policies.

Adeeb is an individual who was convicted and served a prison sentence over the MMPRC corruption scandal. The article published in Forbes Georgia had portrayed him as someone making a business comeback.

However, upon learning that the piece was a paid, sponsored article, many criticized the promotion of a convicted corrupt individual. Forbes Georgia has not yet made any further comments regarding the matter.
