Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has concluded his State Visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

During the visit, the two leaders held official talks on strengthening bilateral relations across trade, defence, healthcare, tourism and Islamic affairs, as well as cooperation on international issues.

The Maldives and Malaysia also signed memoranda of understanding on defence and Islamic affairs and agreed to begin formal discussions on a preferential trade agreement.

The leaders further discussed cooperation in renewable energy, digital development and tourism, and agreed to facilitate consular and visa-related services for citizens of both countries.

President Dr Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed hosted a state dinner in honour of Prime Minister Anwar. Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah and Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel also paid courtesy calls on the Malaysian Prime Minister.

Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam saw off Prime Minister Anwar at Velana International Airport following the conclusion of his visit.
