The Maldives and Malaysia have signed agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense and Islamic sectors.

During a ceremony held at the President's Office today amidst Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's ongoing state visit to the Maldives, the agreements were signed on behalf of Malaysia by Investment Minister Johari Bin Abdul Ghani.

On behalf of the Maldives, the agreements were signed by Minister of Defence Hassan Rasheed and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. Defense and Islamic affairs are key areas in which the Maldives has already been expanding its partnership with Malaysia.

According to the President's Office, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will hold official discussions with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to explore avenues for further enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
