President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the opposition is attempting to incite unrest, and that no opportunity should be given for such actions to infiltrate the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).

Inaugurating the PNC congress at a meeting held at the Social Centre this morning, the President stated that the party's role must be expanded and enhanced, with all its organs working together. He urged members to work collectively in a unified spirit as a single family.

Expressing confidence that the PNC will set an example in steering the political arena toward an ideal state with the participation of all delegates, putting national interest first with the principle of "country first" in a strong familial spirit, the President noted that PNC's membership numbers have neared 80,000 today due to the hard work of party members.

The President stated that opposition parties are acting irresponsibly in the political arena, attempting without bounds to create unrest in the country, and emphasized that no chance must be given for such elements to infiltrate the unified ranks of the PNC. He added that the primary objective of the PNC should be to bring development to the nation.

Over 1,000 delegates will participate in the four-day PNC congress, which begins today. During the congress, members are scheduled to be elected to six vice-presidential positions of the PNC as well as various seats on the High Council.
