President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that every human being is honorable in the eyes of Islam, and that Islam fully guarantees human dignity and self-respect.

Speaking at the official ceremony held last night to mark the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam, the President noted that Islam addresses humanity as "Ashraful Makhlugaat"—the most noble and honored of all creations fashioned by Almighty Allah.

Consequently, he pointed out that Islam strictly prohibits anything that diminishes human dignity and honor. As an example of this, the President recalled that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) defined a true Muslim as one from whose hand and tongue other Muslims are safe.

Highlighting Maldivian history, the President stated that with the Islamic revolution that arrived in the Maldives 900 years ago, Maldivians have lived lives of dignity. He noted that Maldivians demonstrated to the outside world a social standing forged through upholding children's dignity and maintaining a strong bond between the public and leadership. The result, he said, was the establishment of a society built on absolute mutual trust, where the honor of one was recognized as the honor of all.

Describing the profound security of past Maldivian society, the President highlighted the level of trust where houses did not need to be locked, and shop keys could be handed over to incoming customers. He also noted that even in the absence of cash, people were able to obtain goods simply by having them recorded in a ledger.

The President also spoke on the protection granted to human property in Islam, stating that all acts of social corruption, such as theft, robbery, usury, and deceit, are strictly prohibited in the Islamic faith. He emphasized that theft and robbery are not merely transient threats, but dangerous indicators reflecting the erosion of a society's humanity. Instead, he noted, the religion encourages acquiring wealth and prosperity through lawful (halal) commerce.

The President further stated that Islam is not merely a spiritual religion, but a comprehensive framework of physical and moral upbringing, describing it as a supreme divine blessing encompassing all safety and protection.
