Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) received the highest number of awards at the Engineers Awards ceremony held last night to mark National Engineers’ Day.

MWSC won four awards, including two corporate awards and two individual awards.

The company’s General Manager of Risk and Compliance, Dr Furgaan Ibrahim, won both the Engineer of the Year and Engineering Innovation, Technology, Education and Research awards.

At the corporate level, MWSC received the Sustainability Champion Award for its zero-emission water production system in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi, powered by solar energy.

The company also won the Community Impact Award for its Integrated Utility Services model in R. Dhuvaafaru, which provides water, sewerage, waste management, electricity, rainwater harvesting and renewable energy services under one system.

MWSC said the awards recognise its efforts to promote modern, environmentally friendly engineering solutions that contribute to the Maldives’ economic and social development.
