The Government has awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards to three engineers in recognition of their long-standing contributions to the Maldives’ development.

The awards were presented to Abdul Shakoor Solih, the late Ahmed Mahreen and the late Mohamed Rasheed for their significant contributions to the engineering sector.

Abdul Shakoor Solih has more than 50 years of experience in the electricity sector and previously served as Managing Director of Stelco. He was recognised for his contributions to modernising the country’s electricity generation and distribution systems and developing technical staff.

Ahmed Mahreen, who served for more than 40 years in engineering and aviation infrastructure development, held senior positions at regional airports and played a key role in the planning and implementation of major government infrastructure projects.

Mohamed Rasheed, who served as Chairman and CEO of Stelco, also contributed more than 50 years to the electricity sector. During his career, he played a significant role in expanding the country’s power network and developing national infrastructure.
