Speaker of the People's Majlis and PNC Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla stated that under the guise of introducing democracy to the Maldives, the opposition MDP destroyed social values and the culture of respecting leaders, adding that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is working to restore those values.

Speaking on an MMTV program last night, Abdul Raheem noted that through MDP's efforts to end the administration of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the party disrupted national harmony and eroded the long-standing Maldivian trait of mutual respect. He highlighted that MDP convinced the public that disobeying leaders is a core tenet of democracy, thereby damaging the reputation of state institutions.

Abdul Raheem stated that after attacking the dignity of leaders and public servants and destroying traditional virtues, MDP portrayed democracy as living without boundaries or rules. As a result, he noted that respect for leadership and public institutions has diminished.

However, Abdul Raheem emphasized that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is working to revive "Dhivehinge Raajje". He pointed out that through various government initiatives, such as the national respect campaign, the administration is actively restoring traditional Maldivian values.

Abdul Raheem added that Islam commands obedience to leaders, showing respect, and acting with kindness toward elders. He remarked that political figures who set these principles aside and treat deception as a fundamental pillar of democracy are now struggling to process the government's cultural and social initiatives.
