Speaker of the People's Majlis and PNC Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla has criticized former President Abdulla Yameen, stating that remarks made by opposition figures are designed to deceive the public out of a lust for power.

Speaking on an MMTV program last night, Abdul Raheem's response followed claims made by Yameen during a PNF meeting, where he alleged that police knew who set fire to the building previously housing the Housing Ministry and were aware of how close that individual was to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu—allegations that President Muizzu has denied.

Referencing those claims, police later issued a summons seeking information for their investigation; however, Yameen subsequently stated that he possessed no additional details regarding the Green Building fire.

Commenting on the matter, Abdul Raheem noted that opposition figures always seek to distort the truth, adding that President Muizzu's initiatives have cast a shadow over the political future of opposition leaders. He stated that seeing this decline, opposition figures are attempting to clear that gloom.

Abdul Raheem emphasized that the nation has reached a point where citizens must reconsider statements made by the opposition. He pointed out that certain political leaders claim on live television to hold specific information, yet state they know nothing when required to disclose those details.

He concluded that the public must recognize that opposition statements are not grounded in truth, heavily criticizing opposition figures for speaking solely out of a desire for political power.
