Housing Minister Dr Abdulla Muthalib has dismissed reports that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will receive an award at tomorrow night’s Engineers’ Awards ceremony.
In a post on X today, Dr Muthalib said the Engineers’ Awards are given through an established process involving nominations, independent evaluation and interviews.
He described reports that the President would receive an award as false, saying there was no basis for the claim.
The Engineers’ Awards ceremony is being held as part of activities marking Engineers’ Day, observed on 30 August.
The Government has been carrying out various initiatives to promote the engineering sector, while President Dr Muizzu has said he wants to develop the sector as one where Maldivians can work and contribute to national development.
