The Maldivian government has strongly condemned recent statements made by Israeli ministers calling for the forced displacement of Palestinian citizens from Gaza.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that proposals by Israeli ministers to plan and establish systems to facilitate the forced removal of Palestinian citizens from their land are a clear violation of international law and international human rights law. The statement also noted that such rhetoric poses a threat to the international community's efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East.

The government stated that the Maldives categorically opposes any attempt, under any pretext, to forcibly transfer Palestinian citizens inside or outside the occupied Palestinian territories. According to the government, Gaza is an integral and inseparable part of the occupied Palestinian territories. The Foreign Ministry further stated that remaining on their own land and exercising the right to self-determination are inalienable rights belonging to the Palestinian people.

The Maldivian government has called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take strong measures to prevent the forced displacement of Palestinians, to hold violators of international law accountable, and to protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, highlighting that the Maldives will always stand steadfastly with the Palestinian people, the government reiterated its support for establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
