President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for greater public awareness and stronger safety measures to prevent road accidents and hazards in high-rise buildings.

In a message shared on social media, the President expressed sorrow over recent tragedies, including the death of a child following a road accident and an infant who died after falling from a high-rise building.

He urged property owners, building managers and residents to ensure safety measures are in place, particularly window restraints, balcony barriers and protective railings.

The President also called for greater cooperation between families and facility managers to protect children, persons with disabilities and others who may require additional support.

He urged Government institutions, public companies, civil society organisations and the public to work together to improve urban safety and introduce stronger public awareness programmes nationwide.
