President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, on the occasion of the Independence Day of Malaysia.
In separate letters, President Dr Muizzu extended warm greetings, on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, to the government and the brotherly people of Malaysia.
In his letter to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the President noted that the Maldives and Malaysia have enjoyed warm and enduring relations over the past five decades, founded on strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation, and affirmed his commitment to further strengthening the close and cordial relations and advancing cooperation between the two countries for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
In his letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the President observed that the warm and brotherly relations between the two countries have been further strengthened through regular high-level engagements and strong people-to-people exchanges, contributing to economic growth and enhanced cooperation in key areas.
The President voiced confidence that this friendship would continue to thrive, paving the way for expanded economic engagement and greater opportunities for both peoples.
Concluding the letters, President Dr Muizzu conveyed best wishes for the good health and wellbeing of the Malaysian leaders, and for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Malaysia.
The President further reiterated these sentiments in a post on his official X account.
