President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government intends to construct a dedicated building equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to conduct testing and research across various engineering disciplines in the coming days.

President Muizzu made the announcement in a video message extending greetings to professionals working across diverse engineering fields on the occasion of National Engineers' Day celebrated today.

The President noted that the work carried out by engineering professionals is demanding and arduous, emphasizing the vital need to significantly increase the number of Maldivians entering the field.

He expressed his desire to see a greater number of students pursue higher education across diverse engineering disciplines.

In this regard, the President affirmed his belief that the government must provide various forms of assistance to increase Maldivian participation in engineering.

"Accordingly, in the coming days, we intend to construct a building equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities capable of conducting testing and diverse research across various engineering fields. The government plans to establish a high-standard facility that allows all students wishing to study and advance in these fields to conduct experiments in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, software engineering, aircraft and aeronautical engineering, robotics, AI, and digital engineering, while also offering opportunities for international researchers to visit the Maldives and conduct research," President Dr. Muizzu said.

The President stated that the government will carry out the requisite technical groundwork and investment mobilization for the project, adding that it will be executed sustainably without burdening the state budget.

"This will serve to increase the number of students aspiring to study in various engineering disciplines and elevate the Maldives to high standards in diverse engineering fields across the development arena," the President said.
