President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to rescue the country from economic bankruptcy and safeguard the public interest will be recorded in history, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated.

Speaking on an MMTV program tonight, the Vice President stated that the President's foremost responsibility is facilitating beneficial outcomes for citizens through the system.

In this regard, he noted that the President’s decision, made at the request of the PNC Parliamentary Group, to resolve the US dollar shortage and the lack of dollar circulation in the economy was a visionary political decision aimed at protecting the interests of local businesses and citizens. He added that because this decision may reduce privileges previously enjoyed by certain parties, those entities will attempt to mislead the public.

Criticizing the previous administration's policies, the Vice President stated that suspending the law to print money during MDP's tenure pushed the country to the brink of bankruptcy. He noted that the current President (while in opposition), business leaders, and even some senior MDP figures had pleaded against money printing. However, by the end of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, state reserves were exhausted to the extent of jeopardizing national independence, he said.

Highlighting ongoing efforts to overcome these hardships, the Vice President stated that the President is working to settle national debts without placing a burden on citizens, while also reclaiming mortgaged public schools and hospitals. In addition to economic reconstruction, he noted that the President places high priority on repairing the damaged social fabric and strengthening family ties.

Regarding the example set by the President in the political arena, the Vice President stated that rather than harboring personal hostility or malice toward opponents, the President prioritizes patience and wisdom. He praised the President as a patriotic leader dedicated to safeguarding national independence and sovereignty for future generations.
