The Maldives will always remain committed to strengthening relations with China, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated.

In a post on X commemorating National Engineers' Day marked today, the President stated that eight years ago, the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge was inaugurated, symbolizing the close and enduring friendship between the Maldives and China.

In his message, the President highlighted the government’s efforts to foster the mutual trust, solidarity, and shared goals uniting the two nations.

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, bilateral relations will continue to flourish, unlocking greater opportunities for the people of both nations and further consolidating their close partnership.

"On this 8th anniversary, I assure that the Maldives will always work towards further strengthening the close, friendly relations between our two countries," the President’s message stated.

The government officially designated the anniversary of the opening of the Sinamalé Bridge as National Engineers' Day in the Maldives, commemorating its inauguration on August 30, 2018.
