Former Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Fayyaz Ismail has stated that, working alongside MDP Chairperson and former President Mohamed Nasheed, he will accomplish the essential "Bodu Badhalu" needed in the Maldives.

Fayyaz made the remarks in a post on X today following media reports claiming he had left a WhatsApp group titled "Bodu Badhalu" (Major Change) amid discontent.

Fayyaz, who has expressed interest in contesting the MDP presidential primary, stated that he left a WhatsApp group named "Bodu Badhalu" three weeks ago, clarifying that it was not an official group related to the initiative.

"On this occasion, I want to assure MDP members and the general public who support and place their hopes in the 'Bodu Badhalu' manifesto: God willing, President Nasheed, myself, and our two teams will conclude our work only after delivering the major change that is desperately needed for this nation," Fayyaz said.

The "Bodu Badhalu" manifesto spearheaded by Nasheed and Fayyaz prominently features proposed legal reforms, notably a proposal to separate the roles of Head of State and Head of Government.
