Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated that seeing President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu elected for a second term is a dream he envisions.

Speaking on MMTV's program "Araairu", Abdul Raheem said that given the opportunity, he will remain at the forefront of efforts to help President Muizzu secure a second term.

"That is still a dream I hold. It is my dream for President Muizzu to become the leader who secures a second term under this system in the Maldives. And I want to achieve that. To that end, I will work as much as I have the opportunity, and remain committed to that work. Only after that will I step away from political affairs," Abdul Raheem said.

Abdul Raheem further stated that President Muizzu is distinguished as a deeply nationalistic leader who works closely with the people while listening to their voices.

"Since the inception of this system, I have not seen any other leader work the way President Muizzu does. I see him as a leader who genuinely wants to govern by listening to the public. Beyond that, he accords the highest priority to major national matters, viewing issues such as national independence, sovereignty, and religion as non-negotiable," Abdul Raheem said.

He noted that the President stands out as someone who remains far more vigilant and gives meticulous attention to affairs than others. Alongside a strong determination to deliver results, he added that the President’s competence is clearly evident both in governing within the multi-party framework and in leading the party.

He said that what remains next for him is to step away from active politics and set up a small office to observe others carrying out the work.

"With everything, once the political work is completed, one must step aside gracefully. Step aside and see how others do things. Considering my early life circumstances and the way I grew up, I never even hoped to have the chance to sit in the chair I occupy today," the Majlis Speaker said.
