No Maldivian nationals have been reported affected by the flash floods that struck the Nepal-China border region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today.

The ministry said it was monitoring the situation closely through the Maldivian High Commission in India and the Maldives’ Honorary Consul in Kathmandu. No reports have been received of any Maldivians being in the affected areas or suffering losses in the disaster.

The floods in Nepal have reportedly killed around 350 people, with more than 800 others injured. Tourists, police officers and workers involved in power generation projects are among those affected.

The disaster has also caused significant damage in Tibet, with state media reporting three deaths and 265 injuries in Jilong County. Chinese authorities have deployed around 800 personnel and 150 vehicles for rescue operations.

Authorities in Nepal are also working to move people from high-risk areas to safer locations.
