Students of Feydhoo School in Addu City who were admitted following a food poisoning incident have been discharged after receiving medical treatment.

Last Monday, 31 cadet students from Feydhoo School were hospitalized for treatment after suffering from food poisoning.

Due to the incident, 12 students were admitted to Maradhoo Health Centre, 12 students to Feydhoo Health Centre, and seven cadet students were admitted to Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).

The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has called on relevant authorities to conduct a sensitive and thorough investigation into the food poisoning incident affecting students participating in the Addu City cadet camp.

The HRCM expressed grave concern that students participating in the camp suffered food poisoning, with several becoming ill enough to require inpatient hospital care. The commission noted in a statement that it is currently monitoring the situation closely.

In addition to investigating how the incident occurred, the commission urged relevant authorities to put measures and oversight in place to ensure such incidents are not repeated in the future.
